DID YOU KNOW: 105th birth annivesary of architect Angel Nakpil
Today, Feb. 20, is the 105th birth anniversary of the late architect Angel Nakpil.
He served as commissioner of the City Planning Office of Manila from 1947 to 1949.
He also served as dean of the University of Santo Tomas School of Architecture from 1959 to 1961.
Among his important contributions to the field of architecture in the Philippines were the National Press Club building on Magallanes Drive in Manila, the Lopez Museum building in Pasay, and the Picache Building in Quiapo, Manila.
He was awarded the Patnubay ng Sining at Kalinangan Award by the City of Manila in 1974.
Nakpil died on Nov. 2, 1980. —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
