Trece Martires Mayor Desagun cleared in death of Vice Mayor Lubigan

MANILA, Philippines — Trece Martires Mayor Melandres Desagun has been cleared of the murder of Vice Mayor Alexander Lubigan.

Justice Undersecretary Markk Perete said aside from Desagun, the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) also dismissed the two counts of murder complaint against Luis Abad Jr. and Ronel Bersamina.

Indicted for two counts of murder are Ariel F. Paiton as principal, and Maragondon, Cavite Municipal Councilor Lawrence Arca. Paiton has been identified as the alleged gunman while Arca allegedly sold the getaway vehicle.

Abad was the alleged driver of the getaway vehicle while Bersamina allegedly received the money for the getaway vehicle on behalf of Arca.

Lubigan and his driver Romulo Guillemer were killed last July 7 while his aide survived the attack in front of a Korean restaurant along Barangay Luciano in Cavite. /je
