MMDA to enforce ‘stop and go’ traffic scheme for QC solidarity walk
MANILA, Philippines – A “stop and go” traffic scheme will be implemented in some parts of Quezon City on Sunday for a solidarity walk to be conducted by Muslim and Christian groups that will end inside the Quezon City Memorial Circle (QCMA), the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has announced.
According to the MMDA, the walk dubbed as “Lakad para sa Kapayapaan Laban sa Karahasan,” aims to promote peace in Mindanao in the wake of the recent bombings.
The MMDA said the traffic scheme will start at 7 a.m. at Masaya St. corner Commonwealth Avenue as Muslim groups cross the Elliptical Road from their assembly area at Philcoa.
The group will then enter the QCMC through the east side gate which faces the Commonwealth Avenue and will march all the way to Liwasang Aurora to hold their program, the MMDA said.
Meanwhile, Christian groups will be coming from East Ave, cross the Elliptical Road before entering the QCMC gate that faces East Ave. and will march all the way to Liwasang Aurora.
