SUBIC, ZAMBALES —— A former village councilor here is fighting for his life after unidentified gunmen ambushed him on Thursday afternoon.

Police said Bernard Madamba, 46, of Barangay Wawandue, was driving a tricycle when the assailants aboard a blue Toyota Innova blocked his way and fired shots at him in Sitio Cabanggaan, Barangay Cawag at 5 p.m.

Madamba suffered gunshot wounds in his head and was taken to Baypointe Hospital in Subic Bay Freeport, police said.

Chief Insp. Jude Bryan Maguddayao, acting commander of Subic municipal police station, said the gunmen sped off towards the north.
