#GaLingayen: Campus journos convene for NSPC 2019 in Pangasinan
LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — The Department of Education (DepEd) will gather on Monday around 5,000 campus journalists all over the country for the culmination of the weeklong 2019 National Schools Press Conference (NSPC) here.
Dubbed as the “Olympics of campus journalism,” NSPC is organized annually by DepEd in pursuant to Republic Act 7079 or the Campus Journalism Act of 1991.
“Geared with grit and determination, campus journalists from various public and private schools in the country will compete in this year’s National Schools Press Conference,” Deped said in a Facebook post.
Young scribes from elementary and secondary schools nationwide will battle it out on different writing contests such as news, feature, editorial, sports, copyreading and headline writing, and science and technology writing, photojournalism, editorial cartooning, and column writing (exhibit only).
Other delegates will compete in group categories which consist of radio and TV scriptwriting and broadcasting, collaborative desktop publishing, and online publishing.

Anchored on the theme “Fostering 21st Century Skills and Character-Based Education Through Campus Journalism,” this year’s NSPC is set from January 28 to February 1 hosted by Region 1 and Pangasinan 1.
