CAUAYAN CITY- A businessman was shot dead by an unidentified gunman in front of his trading shop in District 2 here on Wednesday morning, police said.

Senior Insp. Frances Littaua, Isabela police spokesperson, said Robert Uy, 58, was walking in front of the Shers’ Trading, which his family owns, and Mallig Plains Rural Bank when a red helmet-wearing man on board an unlicensed motorcycle shot him at a close range.

Investigators said Uy died instantly. Police said the gunman was later spotted in Santo Niño Subdivision but was not intercepted.

Police have yet to determine the motive and identity of the killer.
