MANILA, Philippines — Most world leaders have agreed with President Rodrigo Duterte’s crackdown on illegal drugs, Senate President Vicente Sotto III said Friday.

Sotto issued this remark after Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena reiterated his praises for Duterte’s brutal campaign against illegal drugs, saying it was an “example” to the world.

“Most world leaders agree with our President. Illegal drugs are the scourge of mankind and those against fighting it are those that benefit from it,” Sotto said in a statement sent to reporters.

In July 2018, the Sri Lankan leader expressed his support to the Philippines’ anti-drug war, saying his government would start hanging drug criminals.  /kga
