Bus runs over woman

An elderly woman who has yet to be identified was killed after a passenger bus hit her as she was crossing A. Bonifacio Avenue in Quezon City at dawn Wednesday. Police Officer 2 Julius Salva of the Quezon City Police District said the driver of the Genesis bus (CXN 340), Marlon Macaraeg, fled from the scene although he later surrendered to the police. The accident happened around 5:30 a.m. on the southbound lane of the busy thoroughfare near the corner of Ipo Street. The bus conductor, John Mark Garcia, told investigators that the victim crossed the street even though the traffic light was green. “There was no time to stop because the victim suddenly appeared in front of the bus,” Garcia added.—Nancy C. Shrine of Jesus holds raffle on Christmas Eve

The Archdiocesan Shrine of Jesus, the Way, the Truth and the Life in Pasay City has launched “Apple Raffle: Handog sa Iyo, ngayong Pasko” to raise funds for its charity projects, including dental and medical missions in Pampanga and providing assistance to the UP-PGH Cancer Pediatric Ward. ‘Painting Freedom’ art exhibit opens Thursday

“Painting Freedom,” an exhibit of art works by political prisoners Alan Jazmines and Eduardo Sarmiento, will open today, December 8, at Sining Kamalig, 4th level, Gateway Mall at Araneta Center in Quezon City. Selda [Samahan ng mga Ex-Detainees Laban sa Detensyon at para sa Amnestiya], as well as the families and friends of Jazmines and Sarmiento, invites the public to view the exhibit, which will run until December 30.
