Bus runs over woman
An elderly woman who has yet to be identified was killed after a passenger bus hit her as she was crossing A. Bonifacio Avenue in Quezon City at dawn Wednesday. Police Officer 2 Julius Salva of the Quezon City Police District said the driver of the Genesis bus (CXN 340), Marlon Macaraeg, fled from the scene although he later surrendered to the police. The accident happened around 5:30 a.m. on the southbound lane of the busy thoroughfare near the corner of Ipo Street. The bus conductor, John Mark Garcia, told investigators that the victim crossed the street even though the traffic light was green. “There was no time to stop because the victim suddenly appeared in front of the bus,” Garcia added.—Nancy C.
