2 injured in Bulacan public market fire
MANILA, Philippines — A senior citizen and another person were reported hurt after a fire engulfed a public market in Sta. Maria town in Bulacan early Sunday, the Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP) said.
Fire Officer 1 Rizza Soria of the BFP Regional Office of Region III told INQUIRER.net in a phone interview that seven fruit stalls at the M. Poblacion Market were burned by the fire.
The victims were identified as Rosita Flores, 75, and Arnel Esteban, 53. Both sustained minor burns in the upper back portion of their bodies.
According to Soria, the fire started at 2:40 a.m. and was declared fire out at 3:21 a.m. after reaching first alarm.
The estimated damage of the fire is at P250,000. However, the cause of fire is yet to be determined by authorities, Soria added. /je
