Cops nab MILF member in Maguindanao for unlicensed gun
DATU ODIN SINSUAT, Maguindanao – Police arrested a member of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) on Thursday for bringing a gun that later found to be unlicensed when visiting a relative in jail.
Abdulmaute Salik, a resident of Barangay Langeban, Kabuntalan town in Maguindanao, was also discovered to have a pending warrant of arrest for kidnapping charges.
He was then turned over to the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group or CIDG-Maguindanao field office, according to Chief Inspector Sabri Lakibul, Datu Odin Sinsuat (DOS) town police chief.
Lakibul said Salik, 53, who paid a visit to a relative in jail, had identified himself as an MILF member with MILF-issued ID, when a jail guard, identified as PO2 Shahid Kasim, noticed the pistol tucked on his waist. When they checked, police discovered that it was an unlicensed cal. 45 pistol with ammunition.
Police later found out that Salik had a standing warrant of arrest for kidnapping charges, issued by RTC-Branch 13 Judge Bansawan Ibrahim.
