Classes suspended in Bohol on Nov. 20 and 21

TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol — Classes from preschool to high school are suspended in the entire province of Bohol on Tuesday, Nov. 20, and Wednesday, Nov. 21.

Bohol Gov. Edgar Chatto ordered the suspension on Monday night, hours after Signal No. 1 was hoisted over Bohol as Tropical Depression “Samuel” maintained its strength while moving northwestward.

Samuel is expected to bring heavy rains in most parts of the Visayas and Mindanao.

Chatto said that mayors in the province were also given the discretion to declare suspension of classes in the college level based on local hazard and risk profile.

Their respective Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (MDRRMCs) were also directed to closely monitor the status of their areas of responsibility.

Earlier, the towns of Candijay and Jagna and Tagbilaran City suspended classes from preschool to high school, in both public and private schools, onon Tuesday, Nov. 20.

Inabanga town also suspended classes in all levels, in both public and private schools, on Tuesday, Nov. 20.

According to the Philippine Atmospsheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), “Samuel” might make landfall in the Siargao-Dinagat Islands area on Tuesday evening.

Pagasa warned that moderate to heavy rain may trigger flash floods and landslides in Caraga, Eastern Visayas, Davao Oriental, Compostela Valley, Bukidnon, Misamis Oriental, Camiguin, Bohol, and Cebu. /atm
