Trillanes files motion to dismiss sedition charges

/ 05:30 AM October 26, 2018

Fresh off his victory at the Makati Regional Trial Court, Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV asked a Pasay City prosecutor on Thursday to dismiss the charges of inciting to sedition and proposal to commit coup d’état filed against him in September by allies of President Duterte.

The complaint alleged that Trillanes’ remarks in the days after President Duterte revoked his amnesty were tantamount to asking the military to overthrow the President.

“I expect this case to be dismissed because it was primarily filed to harass me …” said Trillanes, who appeared before Assistant City Prosecutor Reynaldo Ticyado to submit his counteraffidavit. —MATTHEW REYSIO-CRUZ
