12 dribblers face raps for mauling ex-TV actor Ramon Castro in QC

Twelve men are facing frustrated murder charges in the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office for allegedly mauling a former actor after a basketball game last month.

Named as respondents were: Kerbie DBB Zamora, James Zablan, Bjorn Aguilar, Carlo Lopez, Don Mendoza, Lemuelle Pelayo, John Dennis Lim, Laxie Villar, Kriz Melendrez, Vince Alas, Royan Hernandez and Bo Dhugzz.

The case stemmed from the complaint of Ramon Carlos Castro, 37, a former mainstay of ABS-CBN’s “Ang TV” and now a newspaper columnist and broadcaster.

Castro claimed that the mauling happened on the night of Nov. 17 at the basketball court of New Capitol Estates Subdivision in Barangay Batasan Hills.

According to the complainant, he and his team played basketball against the respondents that night.

During the game, the respondents allegedly played rough with Castro, the playing coach of his  team.

Dhuggs allegedly confronted the complainant at the end of the game.

This ensued in a heated altercation which ended in a free-for-all.

Castro claimed that all of the respondents took turns in beating him up, while shouting “Papatayin ka namin! (We’re going to kill you!)” several times until he lost consciousness.

The men then fled the scene after which Castro’s kin brought him to the East Avenue Medical Center where he regained consciousness.

Castro was transferred later to Cardinal Santos Hospital in San Juan City where he was treated for severe injuries.
