Nancy Binay takes leave of absence as UNA president amid family feud
Citing “recent developments within the party,” Senator Nancy Binay has decided to take a leave of absence as president of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA).
Binay announced her decision in a statement released to the media on Thursday.
“In light of recent developments within the party, I am taking a leave of absence effective today (Thursday) as President of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA),” she said.
“With my absence, I will be focusing more on my job as a Senator and put all my efforts in advancing pending legislation in the 17th Congress,” the senator added.
But as an official senatorial candidate of UNA in the 2019 elections, Binay said she would still continue to advance the party’s “core agenda of competence” as well as the “Binay brand of service.”
Binay’s decision to take a leave as party president came amid rivalry between her siblings over the mayoralty post in Makati City.
