Detained Senator Leila de Lima slammed resigned Presidential Adviser Francis Tolentino for claiming that there were “irregularities” in the counting of votes in the 2016 senatorial race.

“Be man enough to admit that nobody cheated you. You simply lost, Mr. Tolentino,” De Lima said on Wednesday in a statement sent from the Philippine National Police Custodial Center in Camp Crame where she is being detained on drug charges.

Tolentino on Wednesday filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) to again seek a Senate seat in the 2019 elections.

“With the filing of his COC, Francis Tolentino must now altogether withdraw his clearly frivolous and baseless protest. It is in fact dismissible on the ground of abandonment,” she said.

De Lima ranked 12th in the senatorial race while Tolentino placed 13th. /muf
