LOOK: Trump won’t share umbrella with Melania, rained on by flak anew
United States President Donald Trump garnered mixed reactions online after videos and photos of himself leaving First Lady Melania in the rain circulated recently on social media.
The umbrella incident happened on Monday, Oct. 15, as they were exiting the White House. The couple flew to Florida and Georgia to check the damage done by Hurricane Michael.
Trump, who was then talking to the press, was holding an umbrella over his own head. His wife, meanwhile, was left uncovered in the rain.
The videos and photos of the President quickly went viral and it was not long before netizens gave their two cents on the matter.
“So nice, Trump and Melania, and he has his umbrella,” commented one Twitter user, Frank Hensel (@hensel_frank). “It‘s a men world.”

Some noted that Trump’s gesture says so much about himself.

Others poked fun at the incident, saying Trump hogged the umbrella to protect his hair.

Scary vision @realDonaldTrump getting that orange hair wet and the orange dye and hairspray running down his face turning it even more orange. No wonder he would not share the umbrella

“Trump protects only himself with the umbrella…his hair is the most important thing for today and every day,” quipped one netizen Jon Mclaughlin (@je_mclaughlin).
One Twitter user, Kerry K. Nobis (@kknobis), stated that what was more horrible than Trump’s umbrella etiquette was him not realizing his outfit made him look fat.
“Yes, any gentleman would be horrified to see #Trump’s umbrella etiquette,” Nobis wrote. “But I think the truly horrifying piece here is that #DJT still hasn’t realized how much fatter khaki colored pants and a white shirt make him look. For Christ’s sake, tubby, take care of business.”

Meanwhile, Trump’s supporters were quick to defend his action.
“These are the days of equality. Why didn’t she think to bring her own umbrella?” questioned one commenter, Matt Treacy (@matttreacy). “Why is it left to the guy to solve her problems?”
Another netizen brought up former U.S. President Barrack Obama asking Marine corporals to hold umbrellas over his and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Erdogan’s heads when it started to rain in the middle of their press conference in 2013. “At least President Trump can hold an umbrella,” said Michael S. Snead – WWG1WGA (@5neadster).
Apparently, it was not the first time Trump forgot to share his umbrella with his wife.
