DID YOU KNOW: The Philippine Legislature reorganized

In Oct. 16, 1916, the Philippine Commission was abolished and the Philippine Legislature was reorganized as a bicameral legislative body composed of a Senate and a House of Representatives.

This marked the first time a Philippine Legislature was fully composed of Filipinos.

Manuel L. Quezon was elected Senate President while Sergio Osmeña was elected Speaker of the House. —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
