It’s a go after all: Bong Go declares Senate bid

Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go has finally ended months-long speculations about his political plans in the 2019 elections.

On Monday, Go announced he is running for senator in the midterm elections next year.

Asked if he will run under the Duterte-chaired Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban), Go said: “Yes.”

He said he will file his certificate of candidacy later Monday before the Commission on Elections (Comelec) head office in Intramuros, where his supporters are already waiting for him.

Though he admitted that he’s going to have a hard time going against seasoned politicians, Go said he is hopeful his experience as President Rodrigo Duterte’s trusted aide will serve him well in the 2019 senatorial race.

/kga
