No cellphones, no Internet for Arroyo at Veterans’ hospital suite

MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Nicanor Bartolome said the hospital suite former President now Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will be occupying at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center will have no access to the Internet and cellphones.

Bartolome said the ban was among the “don’ts” in the list of security measures imposed on former President Joseph Estrada when he was detained at he VMMC presidential suite, and which will be imposed again on Arroyo.

Bartolome said the PNP would strictly implement other security measures, like monitoring and conducting physical check on visitors to the suite.

A contingent from the PNP Police Protection and Security Group will be assigned to Arroyo, who will be detained at the VMMC pending trial for electoral sabotage.
