A senior official of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) is now being investigated by the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) for alleged unexplained wealth.

Greco Belgica, PACC commissioner, said Ed Cordevilla filed a complaint on Sept. 21 against lawyer Ma. Lourdes Mangaoang, the BOC collector at Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

Mangaoang had told the Senate blue ribbon committee that BOC personnel did not follow standard procedure in processing four magnetic lifters that supposedly contained P6.8 billion worth of “shabu” (crystal meth).

Cordevilla said Mangaoang’s wealth was “disproportionate” to her income as a government official based on her statements of assets, liabilities and net worth from 2012 to 2017.

He claimed she owned P2.5 million worth of vehicles although she received only P881,676 in salaries during the period she acquired the vehicles.
