Bicol transport strike set for Oct. 16

LEGAZPI CITY — The Concerned Drivers and Operators (Condor-Piston) in the Bicol region has announced a regionwide transport strike on October 16.

Ramon Rescovilla, secretary general of Condor-Piston Bicol, said the strike of public utility jeepneys will start at 12 a.m. and will end around 12 midnight of that day.

“We are doing this to call the attention of the government to do something in order to lower the prices of petroleum products in the country,” he explained.

He added that the public transport sector has experienced price hikes of petroleum products nine times this year.
