Pangasinan councilor survives gun attack
DAGUPAN CITY – A councilor of Sto. Tomas town in Pangasinan province survived a gun attack on Thursday morning, police said.
Two motorcycle-riding men attacked Ely Arciaga Ramos, 64, in front of his house in Barangay Poblacion East, according to police investigator SPO1 Jerwin Cabreros.
Ramos has expressed his intent to run for mayor in the 2019 midterm polls.
Ramos came from his farm and had just alighted from his motorcycle when the backrider of the second motorcycle shot him.
The bullets grazed his left torso and right hand, enabling Ramos to scamper towards his house, Cabreros said. The gunmen sped off.
The police found two empty shells and a slug fired from a caliber .45 handgun at the crime scene. Yolanda Sotelo/lb
