BJMP to get plane for transporting high-value criminals
President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday said he would provide a plane to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) for the safe transport of high-value criminals.
Citing security reasons especially in Mindanao, Duterte said he would purchase the plane for BJMP before the year ends.
The President made the pronouncement during the send-off ceremony for 250 newly purchased transport vehicles for BJMP at Camp Vicente Lim in Calamba, Laguna.
During the ceremony, BJMP Chief Jail Director Deogracias Tapayan said the new cars will help ease the challenge of transporting persons deprived of liberty (PDL) during their court hearings.
The new transport cars will be distributed to all BJMP regional offices.
“We’ll have to devise a way of transporting criminals, especially in the territory of Mindanao, which is fraught with so many dangers,” Duterte said in his speech.
