Cops hunt down killers of Sultan Kudarat village chair
KIDAPAWAN CITY – Police have identified the men behind the murder of a village chair of Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat province in Tacurong City on Thursday.
Supt. Joefil Siason, Tacurong City police director, said names have come up regarding the murder of Mohammad Tasil, chairperson of Barangay Tambaloyong in Lambayong town, who was on a motorbike on his way home when two gunmen on board separate motorbikes shot him in Purok Kayambanan, Barangay Grino, Tacurong City.
Tasil, who topped the last village council elections, had assumed office as village chair after his predecessor went on absence without leave when police launched a manhunt against him due to illegal drugs.
Siason said police were eyeing two possible motives for the killing of Tasil, namely, his new designation as officer-in-charge and his alleged involvement in illegal drugs.
According to Siason, Tasil and his predecessor, have search warrants for violating the illegal drugs act.
