Parents clamored for justice yesterday, Sept. 11, in front of an unnamed private school in North Delhi, India, protesting about the plight of a nursery student who was allegedly sexually assaulted by a school personnel.

The unnamed parents of the 3-and-a-half year old girl claimed that the girl’s mother saw a blood stain on the girl’s underwear on Sept. 4, as reported by the Hindustan Times today, Sept. 12. After her discovery, they took the child to a hospital to confirm their suspicion.

“The hospital confirmed that my daughter was sexually assaulted,” the girl’s father told the publication, explaining the circumstances why they are alleging that a school personnel sexually assaulted their daughter. “She did not go anywhere other than the school. We raised the matter with the school and have informed the police. But, nobody listened to us.”

The girl’s parents, alongside other parents, rallied in front of the school, demanding for the principal’s as well as the other school officials’ arrests for their “negligence.” More than 50 police officers were sent to the school to ensure that the almost-100 protesters maintain order.

The family asserted that the police have been trying to “shield the school.”

“The police have not arrested anyone from the school as of now,” the girl’s father said in the report. “They do not understand the trauma we are going through.”

The school denied any involvement with the incident.

“We have examined the CCTV footage of the day and the girl was looking happy and cheerful throughout the day. Her father had dropped and picked her from the classroom itself,” the school’s spokesperson stated. “There was no sign of disturbance on her face. The allegations against the school are absolutely baseless. We have sympathy with the parents. She is our child as well.”

Deputy commissioner of police (northwest) Aslam Khan said the parents filed a sexual assault case the day after the hospital confirmed their daughter was assaulted.
