Tsunami warning up in three Pacific islands after strong quake

Tsunami waves up to one meter (3.2 feet) could hit New Caledonia, Fiji and Vanuatu after a strong earthquake in the Pacific Ocean Wednesday, seismologists warned.

After the 7.1 magnitude quake that struck off the eastern coast of New Caledonia “waves reaching 0.3 to 1 meter above the tide level are possible”, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said.   /vvp
