Senate probes Xiamen Air runway mishap

Officials and representatives of a Chinese airline company which owns a jet that recently skidded off a runway of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia), appeared at a Senate hearing on Wednesday.

Lin Huagun, general manager of  Xiamen Air, and other representatives of the airline were among the resource persons  at the hearing of the Senate Committee on  Public Services.

The hearing on the runway incident last August 16 was initiated by the committee chair, Senator Grace Poe.

Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade and other transport and airport officials including Manila International Airport Authority General Manager Eddie Monreal were also present at the hearing.

Former Senator Sergio Osmena III, who previously headed the committee, also attended the hearing.  /muf
