7 hospitalized due to electrocution in N. Cotabato

KABACAN, NORTH COTABATO – Six persons were hospitalized due to electrocution after an electric post fell and hit the pedicab they were riding, police said.

Chief Inspector Ronnie Cordero, Kabacan town police chief, said the pedicab driven by Maguida Akas, 55, from Barangay Kuyapon, was on its way to Datu Montawal town, Maguindanao province when the electric post fell on it at 3 p.m. Monday.

Salamina Sabal, 48; Ika Lumban, 40; Norhamen Ismael, 38; Nanomauten Lumayong, 38; Tanbang Mangatog, 42; and Lampana Daodi, all residents of Purok Macabenban, Barangay Kuyapon here, suffered bruises and light burns.

“The wooden post directly hit the pedicab and it sparked,” Cordero said. The victims were treated at the Kabacan Polymedic hospital.
