Businesswoman killed in Cebu City ambush

CEBU CITY– A woman-business executive was shot dead inside her red sports utility vehicle (SUV) along Natalio Bacalso Avenue, Cebu City on Friday night.

The victim was identified as Junko Hamada, 71, president of Beams Philippines Export Corporation. Information on the company’s website indicates that the Talisay City-based Beams Philippines Export Corporation is into selling and shipping home decorations made from indigenous materials.

Initial investigation showed that two unidentified assailants on board a motorcycle staged the ambush and escaped immediately.

In his Facebook post, Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CCDRRMO) head Nagiel Bañacia said the victim sustained gunshot wounds in her head and left face.   /kga
