Ellis tows NLEX to victory

CHRIS ELLIS led the way for the NLEX Road Warriors with 21 points as they thumped the Cobra Energy Drink, 81-65, in the PBA D-League yesterday at the Far Eastern University gym.

It was a walk in the park for the Road Warriors, who bounced back from an 83-85 loss against Big Chill last Thursday and improved to a 2-1 (win-loss) record.

They looked sickly and low on energy though.

NLEX coach Boyet Fernandez said his troops are just plain tired because some of them play for their school teams in the on-going Philippine Collegiate Championship League.

RR Garcia scored 10 points and Cliff Hodge had nine points, nine rebounds and five assists for NLEX, which extended a one-point-lead to 22-10 as Ellis scored the team’s last 11 points of the first quarter.

Josan Nimes collected 21 points and Jon Sumido added 15 for the Iron Men, who are still winless in six games./Correspondent Jonas Panerio
