Rain still likely due to habagat; severe storm spotted outside PAR

Metro Manila and parts of Luzon will have overcast skies with scattered rain and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon, the state weather bureau said Friday.

The southwest monsoon or habagat, according to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), is affecting the western section of Luzon.

Pagasa noted that Friday’s weather for the rest of  the country would be partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers.

Meanwhile, Pagasa said a severe tropical storm with international name “Soulik” was at 2,060 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon or outside the Philippine area of responsibility based on all available data.

Moving northward at 30 kilometers per hour (kph), Pagasa said the storm has maximum sustained winds of 90 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 115 kph.   /kga
