EPD: 418,000 houses visited, 30,000 surrendered to ‘tokhang’

On the 44th anniversary of the Eastern Police District (EPD), authorities boasted of the district’s achievement over the past year, especially regarding the government’s anti-drug campaign.

EPD’s Acting Deputy Director for Operation Sr. Supt. Florante Torres said during the program on Tuesday at Pasig City that 418,560 houses have been visited, while 30,997 drug users and pushers surrendered to Oplan Tokhang, the administration’s program on the war against illegal drugs.

Torres also noted that in 457 buy-bust operations, 725 suspects were arrested and 362.4 grams of illegal drugs were confiscated, amounting to P1.58 million.

The EPD is composed of police offices of Pasig, Marikina, San Juan and Mandaluyong.

During the event, which featured Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Undersecretary Nestor Quinsay as guest speaker in place of Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go who was unable to attend due to his commitments, different EPD officials and offices were also awarded their achievements.

Pasig City Police was awarded as the Best City Police Station in EPD, while the best police community precinct (PCP) was given to Marikina City’s PCP 5.

Pasig police also bagged the Best Intelligence Office and Best Police Community Relations Office.  Marikina police got the Best Investigation Office, Best Police Strategy Management Unit, and Best Human Rights Desk.  San Juan police, on the other hand, was given the Best Women and Children Protection Desk award.

Pasig police Chief Orlando Yebra Jr. was the Best Senior Police Commissioned Officer (PCO) for Administration, and Marikina police Chief Roger Quesada was PCO for operations.
