BuCor chief orders all jail employees: No phones, gadgets

The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) chief, Undersecretary Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, ordered a total ban on all communications devices in all penal farms and colonies in the country.

In a memorandum on July 20, Dela Rosa ordered BuCor employees not to bring communications gadgets, like cell phones, tablets, pocket Wi-Fi devices and laptops inside all prison compounds.

Dela Rosa’s new order applied to all BuCor officials and personnel in New Bilibid Prison, Correctional Institute for Women and prisons in Davao, Iwahig, San Ramon, Sablayan and Leyte. —Dexter Cabalza
