Maguindanao town treasurer killed in daylight ambush
COTABATO CITY – A town treasurer of Maguindanao was shot dead by still unidentified gunmen along a busy street here Monday morning, a belated police report said.
Senior Supt. Rolly Octavio, city police director, identified the slain official as Tato Gumbila, 40, a resident of Don E. Sero Street, Barangay Rosary Heights V, Cotabato City and municipal treasurer of Mother Kabuntalan, Maguindanao.
Octavio told reporters Gumbila was driving his car along the busy Sinsuat Avenue when the suspects aboard a motorbike opened fire on him at 7:30 a.m. He died on the spot.
Police recovered empty shells for .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene.
Personal grudge or “rido” (family feud) was seen as the motive in the daylight shooting.
The killing of Gumbila came two days after a lone gunman killed Dr. Nasser Gayak, a staff teacher of the Department of Education in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
