Village official gunned down in Lipa City
SAN PEDRO CITY — A village councilman was gunned down by motorcycle-riding gunmen in Lipa City in Batangas province, police said Sunday.
A report from the Batangas police office said the victim Romel Luancing, 51, of Barangay (village) Antipolo del Sur, was talking with a former village councilman, Cesar Gonzalez, when a motorcycle drove by and the backrider opened fire at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
The gunmen then sped off toward Padre Garcia town, the report added.
Luancing sustained multiple bullet wounds and died on the way to a hospital.
This happened just as a former vice mayor Ferdinand Ramos in Sto. Tomas, also in Batangas province, was shot on Saturday evening while on his way home.
Supt. Chitadel Gaoiran, regional police spokesperson, on Sunday said Ramos was still undergoing treatment in a hospital.
