Landslides halt traffic in two Kalinga roads

TABUK CITY, KALINGA – Landslides blocked traffic on two major roads in this city and in Tinglayan town on Tuesday (July 10), following strong rains on Monday night (July 9).

Work crews began clearing the rockslide that fell on a portion of the road between Barangays (village) Lucog and Bantay at 10 a.m., said acting city information officer Geraldine Dumallig.

A second erosion was recorded in Mallango village in Tinglayan, near the boundary of Lubuagan, she said.

On Monday, erosions were reported in Barangay Malagnat at Pinukpuk town, also in Kalinga.

A police team helped residents remove rocks and trees in Sitios (subvillage) Liplipuken, Balasig, Sinking and Bilanggung, Chief Insp. Jerry Costina, Pinukpuk police chief, said. VILLAMOR VISAYA JR.
