2 dead in Rizal, Batangas buy busts
SAN PEDRO CITY – An alleged drug pusher was killed early Tuesday, more than a month after he escaped a police operation in Rizal province, police said.
Supt. Chitadel Gaoiran, spokesperson of the Calabarzon police, said in a report that Jelo Parane escaped when the police implemented a search warrant on May 30 in Barangay San Andres, Cainta, that targeted Parane’s companion, Jun Calumpiano, also a drug suspect.
On Tuesday, the regional drug enforcement team again conducted a buy bust operation this time aiming to catch Parane at about 1 a.m. in Barangay San Jose, Antipolo City.
During the operation, Parane allegedly opened fire prompting the law enforcers to shoot him. Parane was instantly killed.
The police recovered ten sachets of suspected shabu worth about P50,000 and two .38 caliber revolvers.
Article continues after this advertisementMeanwhile in Batangas, drug suspect Rolando Ternida was also killed in a buy bust operation in Barangay Poblacion 1, Calatagan town.
Article continues after this advertisementUndercover policemen bought suspected shabu around 10 p.m. on Monday when Ternida suddenly fired shots at them, the police claimed.
Ternida was hit but died on the way to the Calatagan Medicare hospital.
Still in Batangas, the police arrested three people while having a “pot session” in Barangay Mahabang Parang, Batangas City around 1 a.m. Tuesday.
The suspects were identified as Roydan Acosta, Immaculate Apolinario, and John Patrick Du.
Acosta and Apolinario were identified drug personalities in the city while Du had earlier been arrested for drug charges in 2016 and was only released from jail on June 18 through a plea bargain.
The police said authorities were tipped off about the suspects’ supposed hideout.
The police said they recovered 29 sachets of suspected shabu but has yet to determine its street value. /cbb
