Ex-radioman shot dead in Negros Occidental
CEBU CITY – A former radio reporter was shot and killed by two unidentified men aboard a motorcycle while about to leave his house in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental on Wednesday morning.
The victim was identified as Julius Barellano, 36, who used to be a reporter of Brigada News FM in San Carlos.
Barellano was about to leave his house at Sitio CotCot Hacienda Medina Barangay Rizal about 8:30 a.m. when he was shot several times by still unknown perpetrators, said Supt. Drtagnan Katalbas Jr., San Carlos City police chief, in a telephone interview.
Katalbas said personal grudge was among the angles being looked into although he had ordered a thorough investigation to determine the motive and identify the gunmen.
He said that since Barellano was no longer working in the broadcast media, the investigators would look at his commentaries on Facebook, which might give a clue to solve the case.
