Motorcycle robber slain in Cavite shootout

SAN PEDRO CITY – An alleged robber was killed in a police shootout in Tanza town, Cavite province early on Wednesday.

The suspect was identified as Allan Collado, a resident of Barangay Tiga in Tanza.

The Cavite police office, in a report, said the incident happened around 3:30 a.m. in Barangay Bagtas.

A man, identified only in the report as Glen, sought help from patrolling policemen and claimed that his motorcycle was stolen by robbers who threatened him with a gun.

The police launched a dragnet operation in the town, based on the victim’s description of the suspects’ appearance and clothes.

Authorities later spotted the alleged stolen motorcycle along Bagtas but when flagged down, the suspects began to open fire, the report said.

Police returned fire and hit Collado, who died on the way to the Aguinaldo Hospital in Trece Martires City.

Collado’s still unidentified companion had escaped.

The police said they recovered a .38 caliber gun and the stolen motorcycle.
