President confers Order of Lapu-Lapu on 6 soldiers

President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday conferred the Order of Lapu-Lapu to six soldiers who were wounded in clashes with rebels in Patag, Cagayan de Oro City.

The President visited the wounded soldiers at Camp Evangelista Station Hospital.

Those given the Order of Lapu-Lapu with the rank of Kampilan were Pfc. Jenito Callora, Pfc. Arman Tan and Pfc. Jiffey Tanjay, Pvt. Jayson Gumahin, Cpl. Rolando Cartilla, and militiaman Mark Taguin. The Order of Lapu-Lapu, Rank of Kampilan, is awarded to government personnel and private individuals who get wounded or suffer losses while taking part in programs of the President. In a statement, Malacañang said that after a “brief chat” with the wounded soldiers, Mr. Duterte “promised to help them and provide for their needs.” —Julie M. Aurelio
