Village chief in Quezon gunned down

LUCENA CITY – A barangay (village) chairman was shot and killed in San Narciso town in Quezon province on Monday.

Police spot report said Ruben Carabido, village chieftain of Barangay Binay, was shot by a group of at least eight persons using different firearms in Barangay Busokbusok around 12:30 p.m.

The victim was fatally hit in different parts of the body and died on the spot.

Police described the attackers as wearing “black shirts with CPP-NPA logo (hammer and sickle).” CPP stands for Communist Party of the Philippines while NPA refers to New People’s Army, the CPP military wing.

An investigation is ongoing.
