MMDA collects over 400 trucks of garbage from esteros in a week

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) collected more than 400 trucks of garbage when it declogged esteros across Metro Manila from May 31 to June 7.

The declogging operations were conducted at Estero de Magdalena, Estero de Maypajo, Tunasan Creek, and Hagonoy River.

According to MMDA Chairman Danilo Lim , the 432 truckloads of trash are equivalent to 2,292 cubic meters of garbage.

“Every day, our workers go down the drainage and waterways just to haul the garbage,” Lim said.

Meanwhile, the MMDA also said that 57 pumping stations would be rolled out in strategic areas in the Metro Manila to remove sewage and improve drainage systems.  /vvp
