Heavy rainfall alert was issued over Metro Manila and nearby provinces midday Monday.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) raised the yellow rainfall warning over Metro Manila, Bulacan, Pampanga, Zambales, and Bataan at 11 a.m.
Flooding in low-lying areas may prevail over these areas, it noted.
Light to moderate with occasional heavy rain are affecting Cavite, Batangas, Rizal Laguna northern Quezon, Tarlac, and Nueva Ecija, which may persist within three hours, Pagasa also said.
The heavy rain were caused by the southwest monsoon or “hanging habagat,” it added. /kga
