Foreign cops help arrest Tarlac human trafficking suspect, rescue 5 girls

CAMP OLIVAS, PAMPANGA – The police rescued five young girls and arrested their alleged human trafficker on Friday (June 7) in Capas town in Tarlac province.

Marlyn Baptista, 35, was cornered at her house in Barangay (village) Cristo Rey, in a police operation undertaken with the help of the police in The Netherlands, Australia and Sweden, and assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the International Justice Mission.

Details about Baptista’s trafficking ring and operations were not released at press time.

The police seized Baptista’s computer tablet, modem and a mobile telephone which supposedly recorded her transactions with clients, among them foreigners.

The suspect was charged for violating laws against human trafficking (Republic Act No. 10364), child abuse (RA 7610) and cybercrime (RA 10175).

The minors were brought to a government facility in Quezon City.
