CABANATUAN CITY – A former police officer was killed in a firefight with policemen during a 1:40 a.m. drug bust in Barangay (village) Kapitan Pepe here on Friday (June 8).
Dismissed Police Officer 1 Alvin Belmonte allegedly drew out a gun when he realized he was dealing with undercover policemen and agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), said Supt. Ponciano Zafra, city police chief.
Details of what Belmonte was selling have yet to be released, but the former policeman has been linked to robberies and drug peddling in Nueva Ecija. Armand Galang
