Mocha Uson still enjoys President Duterte’s trust and confidence despite the former entertainer’s refusal to apologize for offending Kris Aquino, Malacañang said on Thursday.
In a press briefing, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said Uson remained an assistant secretary in the Presidential Communications Operations Office.
“She hasn’t been fired. For as long as she hasn’t been fired, she enjoys [President Duterte’s] trust and confidence, because all presidential appointees serve at the pleasure of the President,” Roque said.
President Duterte’s special assistant Christopher “Bong” Go said on Wednesday that Uson would apologize to Aquino, just like what he and the President did.
Deceased, defenseless
But Uson refused to say sorry for her Facebook post that defended the President for kissing a married Filipino woman in South Korea by comparing it to the late Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr. receiving a buss from an admirer aboard a plane shortly before he was assassinated in 1983.
An offended Aquino took to social media, telling Uson to leave her deceased, defenseless parents out of the issue.
Uson later posted on FB: “With all due respect to everyone involved, I decline to apologize for the truth.” — JULIE M. AURELIO
