MANILA, Philippines – Rain caused by the southwest monsoon flooded parts of metro Manila this Saturday, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said.
As of 9:00 a.m., Lascano and Tugatog Streets and Letre Road area in Malabon City are not passable to light vehicles after it recorded knee-deep level or 19 inches of floodwater, the MMDA said, through its Metrobase Floodwatch.
The road near R. Papa Station of LRT in Manila and the C4-Letre Interchange Road in Malabon also got gutter-level or 8 inches of rainfall, the MMDA said.
The MMDA has identified eight flood-prone zones across Manila, which include Sampaloc and Rizal Avenue corner R. Papa in Manila; Makati Diversion Channel along South Superhighway and Buendia in Makati City; Maysilo Circle, Boni Avenue, Panaderos Street, Kalentong Street,bAcacia Lane and Shaw Boulevard, all in Mandaluyong City; Barangay Salapan and Bagong Bato in San Juan City; and Barangay Imelda, Damayong Lagi, Tatalon and Talayan in Quezon City.
A team of 30 personnel are on call and on standby to manage flood and traffic in the affected areas.
