Trillanes requests copy of Senate’s CCTV footage to prove his case vs Paras

Senator Antonio Trillanes IV has requested a copy of a closed circuit television (CCTV) footage at the Senate to prove that his accuser, Labor Undersecretary Jacinto Paras, was a liar.

In a letter to Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III on Wednesday, Trillanes specified the CCTV footage at the Senate session hall last May 29.

“[The] said video will be used in my response to the case that was recently filed against me by Usec. Jacinto “Jing” Paras,” he said in the letter.

Paras earlier filed a complaint against Trillanes for allegedly threatening his life when he attended a Senate hearing last week. He also denied initiating a handshake with the senator.

But Trillanes, a member of the opposition, belied all allegations against him.

“He initiated the handshake, I rejected it,” the senator said in Filipino, questioning the sincerity of the act since Paras was among those who filed a case against him.

“Makikita nyo yun sa CCTV, inabot nya yung kamay nya, ni reject ko yan. So dito nga natin makikita, sinungaling itong tao na ito (You will see that in the CCTV, he offered his hand and I rejected it. We will see there that he is lying),” he said.

The senator also denied telling Paras, “Yayariin kita (I’ll finish you off).”

“Absolutely not true, guni-guni niya iyan (It’s just his imagination),” he said, adding that Paras is just making a big thing out of it because he saw it as an opportunity to harass him.

“I will not let them divert my attention from my work,” he added. /ee
