BALANGA CITY, Philippines – Four people were killed when a tractor rammed a variety store beside a road in Dinalupihan, Bataan, on Friday night, police said on Saturday.
Senior Inspector Dennis Orbista, information officer of the Bataan police, said Jayson Miranda, Marleen Miranda, Estella Mallari and Michael Isip, all of Barangay (village) Luacan in Dinalupihan, were buying some items from the store when the Mitsubishi Fuso tractor hit them at about 8:30 p.m.
Orbista said Lauro Verdillo, 32, the tractor’s driver, surrendered to the police.
Verdillo told investigators that the Olongapo City-bound tractor was running smoothly while he was cruising on the Olongapo-Gapan Road but it developed mechanical trouble when it reached Barangay Luacan, causing him to lose control.
