SAN PEDRO CITY – Police killed two suspected robbers in separate shooting incidents in Cavite province.
In Silang town, authorities received information about two men who tried to steal from a convenience store before speeding off aboard their motorcycle.
The alert prompted police to set up checkpoints in a bid to corner the suspects.
But the motorcycle-riding suspects sped past one of the checkpoints by shooting at the policemen. This resulted to an exchange of gunfire around 3 a.m. Wednesday along Sabutan-Paliparan road in Barangay Sabutan, where one of the two men was killed. The driver of the motorcycle escaped.
In the adjacent Tagaytay City, another suspected robber was killed around 10 p.m. Tuesday.
Tagaytay police chief Supt. Elmer Decena said in a report that police were informed about a robbery in one of the houses at Country Homes 2 in Barangay Neogan.
The subdivision guards said they saw three men jump out of the subdivision’s fence, prompting police to launch a pursuit to catch the suspects. The chase went towards Barangay Zambal, and a shootout followed.
Police killed one of the suspects during the gunfight while the two other suspects managed to escape with the loot. Police recovered a .38 caliber gun from the scene.
The two slain suspects were still unidentified, as of this posting. /kga
